Mission to Fulfill

What We Do

We honor Britt by living the way she did - with a full and generous heart and a passion for supporting others. We firmly believe that by activating our network to join forces for good, the sky is the limit on the impact we can have!

How We Give

We aim to meet peoples' needs in times of crisis by providing swift financial support and resources. We have a focus on mental health and suicide prevention, but also extend our support to individuals facing other hardships including critical illness and loss either directly or through non-profit organizations. We seek to support community members in their darkest hours to bring light, relief and remind them they are not alone.

How We Fundraise

Our community is a powerful one and we receive support from those that knew and loved Britt and want to help those in need the way she did.  In addition, thanks to our generous network and partners, we are able to offer exclusive events and initiatives as well as auctions featuring one-of-a-kind items and experiences. Furthermore, partial proceeds from the sale of every bottle of Joseph George Sauvignon Blanc benefits the Britt George Foundation. These offerings help us raise the critical and life-changing funds we donate to those in need.

Our Story

The George family has been rooted in philanthropy since Joseph George Fine Wines opened in San Jose in 1940. As the owners and operators of Joseph George Fine Wines, Bert and Cyndie are known locally for their ability to bring people together and for their generosity. The unimaginable struck the George family in December of 2014 when their 28-year-old daughter Britt died by suicide.  Through their immense grief and pain, Bert and Cyndie were able to take action by establishing the Britt George Foundation in 2015 as a way to honor Britt and continue her legacy of compassion and care for the community. Britt believed in supporting "any living thing..." which became the Foundation's mantra. The Foundation is dedicated to supporting people in their times of greatest need, and by doing so, we are carrying on Britt's legacy of compassion and philanthropy.
